Baby Jade - Portulacaria afra | Live Succulent Plant
The Baby Jade Plant (Portulacaria afra) is a hardy, low-maintenance succulent known for its small, round, fleshy green leaves and reddish-brown stems. Often referred to as Dwarf Jade, or Miniature Jade, this plant is a favorite for bonsai training, terrariums, and hanging planters. It is an excellent air-purifier and thrives in various indoor and outdoor environments.
Native to South Africa, Baby Jade is an adaptable plant that stores water in its leaves, making it highly drought-tolerant. It can be grown as an upright shrub, a cascading plant in hanging baskets, or trained as a bonsai.
Plant Details:
- Botanical Name: Portulacaria afra
- Size: Available as a 2-inch potted plant

- Water: Use well-draining soil and allow the soil to dry between waterings
- Hardiness: Zones 9-11 (Not frost-hardy)

Cold Climate Considerations:
For those in colder climates experiencing freezing temperatures, we recommend adding a UniHeat 72-Hour Heat Pack to your order. This will help ensure your plant arrives safely. If a heat pack is not included, we cannot guarantee the plant will survive in below-freezing conditions.
Watering & Care Tips:
- Use succulent or cactus soil to ensure proper drainage
- Water sparingly—more in summer, less in winter
- Prune as needed to shape and encourage growth
